Overview

Waterway is hiring a Retail Store Team Leader at our Richmond Heights location! This role will serve as a lead role delivering an outstanding customer experience in one of Waterway’s largest Retail store operations. We’re looking for individuals who are passionate about customer experience and obsessive with results.

 

The Retail Store Team Leader serves as the lead role in delivering an outstanding customer experience in the Retail Store by ensuring the highest standards of customer interaction, store appearance, cleanliness, and safety. Responsible for the effective management and merchandizing of retail inventory and delivery of key service standards, the person in this role sets the standards for others to follow.

You’ll be responsible for placing inventory orders, serving as main point of contact for vendors, managing backstock, and merchandizing the retail store. You’ll also impact the rest of the customer service team by serving as a role model for others to follow and working with managers by playing an active role in the training and development of other team members.

 

Compensation: Starting at $20 per hour, depending on experience, plus bonus ($2-$3/hour average, $5/hour potential).

Schedule: Full time (40 hours) retail schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do - The Details:

Customer Experience

  • Provide excellent and timely customer service to create a pleasant experience for customers. Proactively greet and engage customers entering the retail store or other parts of the car wash and be responsive to their needs throughout their entire visit.
  • Ensures execution of key service standards from self and all retail store team members.
  • Completes retail and fuel transactions in a timely and effective manner.
  • Effectively present and sell retail offers, as well as complete the transactions of car wash services and memberships, to customers to achieve sales and revenue goals for the location.
    • Retail offers – enthusiastically offer retail merchandise or services in the retail store.
    • Car Washes – assist customers who may have questions about car wash services.
    • Clean Car Club memberships – complete enrollment processes, effectively present options and the benefits and value of membership, and address customer questions or concerns.
    • Fuel- assist customers who may have questions about Fuel services.

Team Leadership

  • Acts as a role model at all times and serves as a retail product expert for the retail store team
  • Assist managers in the training and development of supporting CSA team.
  • Provide feedback to managers on RSA/CSA development and to closing/weekend RSA team on responsibilities and execution of action steps.

Retail Store Appearance and Management

  • Maintain a safe, clean and organized environment to ensure a positive visit for every customer including but not limited to Retail Store fixtures and displays, storage rooms, restrooms, and customer waiting areas.
  • Demonstrate a mentality of “always cleaning” from self and CSA team.
  • Communicate all issues/store needs to management.
  • Ensure all customer areas including bathrooms are A+ clean at all times.
  • Maintain point-of-sale transaction, sales, and cash drawer integrity by following procedures accurately. Effectively use all transaction technology including tablets, payment terminals, and other point-of-sale technology.
  • All retail store equipment are clean and in good working order at all times.
  • Communicate chemical and other cleaning supply needs to GM and complete retail store evaluations as needed.

Merchandising and Inventory

  • Complete all inventory ordering for the store. Communicate inventory orders and delivery times to management.
  • Work with management team to optimize inventory ordering and monthly warehouse order needs.
  • Receive and check-in all deliveries. Record expiration dates.
  • Stock the store following established retail protocols (i.e., FIFO) and store excess merchandise into backstock.
  • Keep retail store merchandise stocked and organized, displays clean and well presented to our brand standards. Assist with inventory related tasking as directed by store management.
  • Organize walk in cooler and backstock storage in A+ standards using appropriate storage, organization, and cleanliness.
  • Works with vendors to make sure all expired/damaged items are returned/credited in a timely manner.

Retail Store Key Point of Contact

  • Act a liaison for store management team, local merchandiser, and corporate retail team. Assist with retail store reporting, inventory management, onsite vendor relationships.
  • Serve as main point of onsite contact for vendors. Develop effective relationships with vendors.
  • Work with retail team as needed, assist retail team with store resets, communicate transfers, product issues and ideas, and vendor issues.

Other Functions

  • Follow Waterway policies, procedures, guidance, and instructions, including and especially those related to safety.
  • Perform various administrative tasks, for example making bank deposits, picking up or delivering supplies from other stores or retailers.
  • Perform various transactional functions to meet customer demand and store staffing needs.
  • Various other functions as identified and directed by management.

Qualifications

What you need:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of 12 months’ experience in Retail or similar customer service role;
  • Experience with retail merchandizing, inventory management, or similar;
  • Current and valid drivers’ license.

  • Strong communication skills and leadership qualities.
  • Professional demeanor, behavior, and appearance in accordance with company policy;
  • Ability to perform all essential functions safely without endangering oneself or others;
  • Ability to comply with local/State health code requirements for soda fountain and food service/sales; and
  • Meet local/State minimum age requirements for sale of tobacco and alcohol sales (where applicable).

Physical Requirements

Work Environment/Physical Demands

  • Environmental – may work primarily outdoors year-round, and be exposed to wide temperature variations, sunshine, wet weather (rain, snow), humidity, wet surfaces, gasoline and exhaust fumes, machinery and moving parts, and brief exposure to car wash tunnel noise.
  • Physical – periods of extended standing, bending, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, drive vehicles, reach above and below shoulder level. Complete tasks at a fast pace, sustain consistent physical effort, sustain continuous and prolonged standing and movement. Work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and maintain a calm and professional disposition in all circumstances.
  • Vision and Hearing – Far and near visual acuity, peripheral vision and depth perception. Hear, understand, and distinguish speech from other sounds (e.g., alarms, horns, vehicles, and equipment).
  • Language – must be able to fluently speak and understand English when communicating with other team members, managers, and customers for business related purposes.
  • Cognitive – perform arithmetic calculations and operate data entry devices.
  • Attendance – maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance. Work as assigned schedule which may be irregular and include weekends, extended hours, overtime, and holidays.
